Ems (Events Management System) is an integrated application system that is used to capture and manage occurrence information in any environment where manual occurrence books are normally used. The application is typically applied to the security guarding environment but can be extended to incorporate most activities related to the management of sites.

This includes but is not limited to the following:

  • Criminal incidents and procedures
  • Operational Incidents and procedures
  • Site maintenance events and processes
  • Occupational Health & Safety and processes
  • HR & Industrial relations and processes

EMS manages escalation procedures to ensure that occurrences are treated in accordance with their severity.

  • Phangela Group “Buried Life Project”, is our version of Reach for a Dream for internal Security Officer staff only. Staff members are invited to write a letter motivating why they think they deserve to win, as well as stating their desired prize. Prizes are to the value of R5000 and are only in the form of the prizes stated. No cash amounts are paid out.


Phangela employs a full-time Compliancy Auditor to review and track the organisation’s adherence to regulatory guidelines in terms of all agreements.


Our in-house Investigator provides an independent service for all criminal incidents that may occur at a client’s premises. The duty of the in-house Investigator is not to protect Phangela, but rather to catch and expose criminals, whether they are in Phangela’s employment or external influences.


Strict measures are in place to ensure the Security Officers conform to the expectations for the site. KPIs are in place to ensure this and Security Officers are rewarded for complying. Bonuses can range from R250 to R1000.

1. Night Shift Allowance:

The major portion of the shift ordinarily falls between the hours of 18:00 on one day and 06:00 to the next day that an employee will be entitled to, and shall receive an allowance, in respect of each night shift worked.

2. Firearm Allowance:

Employee who is required to carry a firearm in the performance of an employee’s duties.

3. Annual Bonus:

Each employee is entitled to be paid an Annual Bonus after 12 months completed service.

4. Public Holiday:

When an employee works on a public holiday, the employer shall pay the employee in respect of the total period worked no less than double.

5. Area-3 Premium:

All Area-3 employees will receive Area-3 Premium per month.

6. Special Allowances:

Mobile Supervisor, Armed Security Officer, Armed Response Officer, National Key Point Officer, Control Centre Operator.

7. Sunday Work:

Perform duties on the relevant shift commencing on a Sunday.

8. Provident Fund (PSSPF):

Private Security Sector Provident Fund – equal contribution from employee and employer.

9. UIF:

Employee and employer contribute to the Unemployment Insurance Fund for short-term relief to workers when they become unemployed.

10. Service Benefits:

Upon completion of the following period of uninterrupted service, calculated from 19.02.2007, receive once-off service benefits
1st 5 years – R500.00
1st 10 years – R1000.00
1st 20 years – R5000.00
